A few weeks ago\u00a0ended\u00a0the second\u00a0month,\u00a0and the Term 2 just started. As always, we barely have free time, that&#8217;s why I&#8217;m being so absent here in the website. This kind of post to talk about the whole month is usually huugeee, but I will try to simplify the maximum, ok? So, basically I will talk very fast about the assignments that we had in the second month, and a quick overview of Term 2.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Term 1 finished with the following last assignments:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Game Production<\/strong><br \/>\nWe had a last\/second exam following the same style of the first one. The exam was fine and we had our exam correction in class, right after the exam. Nice!<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>For this class we had no assignments!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Game Theory Analog and Practical<\/strong><br \/>\nPresentation and documentation of the final version of my Board Game: Dragon&#8217;s Burrow. More details you can read in my last post here on the website, where I described better each one of the steps of development of the game.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Board Game Final Version;<\/li>\n<li>Rules Book;<\/li>\n<li>Playtest Document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Storytelling<\/strong><br \/>\nWe had the Hero&#8217;s Journey Final Presentation, that basically was a 10 minutes presentation analysing the Hero&#8217;s Journey in a movie of our choice, and creating a game concept for it. In my case I choose\u00a0<em>Le fabuleux destin d\u2019Amelie Poulain<\/em>. In my case I did the Cinematic Concept based in an idea for a Open Cinematic for my Board Game Dragon&#8217;s Burrow, imagining that the game could be developed in a digital version.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Cinematic Final Presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Programming 1<\/strong><br \/>\nWe had two more assignments. One that we needed to create a Pet Sim Game in which the player should use just two actions by &#8220;day&#8221; to interact with the pet, and revealing his status in the end of the &#8220;day&#8221;. And, finally, the last assignment was in group, that we needed to do any type of text based game using C# with all techniques that we learned before.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Pet Sim Game;<\/li>\n<li>Programming Final Project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Level Design Theory<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter we studied some Level Design\u00a0characteristics\u00a0using Lego pieces, we finished the Detailed Level Design Document with the level that we were working in this last month. My level was based in the final game concept that I presented with my group in Pre-Production Class. I&#8217;ve created a new level for the game and I explored the whole Level Design Documentation part, with player&#8217;s path, triggers, enemies, Asset Summary, Potential Risks etc. I really loved to do this document. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.matheuspitillo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/survivors_map_LD.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1303\" title=\"survivors_map_LD\" src=\"http:\/\/www.matheuspitillo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/survivors_map_LD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.matheuspitillo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/survivors_map_LD.jpg 979w, https:\/\/www.matheuspitillo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/survivors_map_LD-300x270.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Detailed Level Design Document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Pre-Production Techniques<\/strong><br \/>\nWe had the last game pitch presentation. This last pitch was a full presentation in group, using powerpoint.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Pre-Pro Final Presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Visual Design Principles<br \/>\n<\/strong>And finally, for this class we had two more assignments. We did a\u00a0Dynamic Game Health\/Life Bar, animating the frames using PhotoShop. And the last assignment was a Game Cover that we choose between the options that the teacher gave to us. With the cover, we needed to create a Mood Board to use as reference of colors, textures and images.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Assignments:<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Dynamic Game Health\/Life Bar;<\/li>\n<li>Creating a Visual Target \/ Cover.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BOOOOOOM! And that was the end of Term 1. It&#8217;s good to remember that the biggest project of Term 1 was the Board Game. While the biggest one of Term 2 is the Flash Game.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Term 02 &#8211; Overview<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8220;<em>The second term builds on the foundation of game theory and also introduces game mechanics into the designers toolbox. Along with learning to work effectively in teams, the specialized aspect of game design continues with level design, game art, critical analysis and coding in Flash. This programming language will allow the designers to create their own mini-games.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Game Theory &#8211; Digital<\/li>\n<li>Game Mechanics<\/li>\n<li>Team Management<\/li>\n<li>Level Design 1<\/li>\n<li>Flash<\/li>\n<li>Game Audio<\/li>\n<li>Game Art<\/li>\n<li>Critical Analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As I already said before, in this term we are more focused on the Flash Game. But for me that really loves Level Designer I&#8217;m trying to dedicate my time with the Level Design assignments and the maps that we are creating on UDK.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the Flash Game the teams were chosen almost in a &#8220;random&#8221; way. My team consists of Ryan, Gustavo, Siddharth and me. Our project is called <strong><em>Jack\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and we have a &#8220;partnership&#8221; with the project <em><strong><a title=\"http:\/\/compendium.vfs.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/compendium.vfs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Compendium<\/a><\/strong><\/em> of VFS.\u00a0Compendium is spearheaded by the Entertainment Business Management program at VFS. Compendium is a showcase of collaboration across industry sectors by the entertainment professionals of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More details about the classes and assignments I will be posting here later. Esse tipo de post normalmente como o de hoje normalmente \u00e9 muuuiitooo grande, mas vou tentar resumir ao m\u00e1ximo, ok?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O Term 1 se finalizou com os seguintes assignments:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Game Production<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nN\u00f3s tivemos a prova final seguindo o mesmo estilo da prova anterior. Logo depois da prova n\u00f3s recebemos a corre\u00e7\u00e3o em sala de aula.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Game Theory Analog and Practical<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nApresenta\u00e7\u00e3o e documenta\u00e7\u00e3o da vers\u00e3o final do meu jogo de tabuleiro: Dragon&#8217;s Burrow. Mais detalhes quanto ao processo de desenvolvimento voc\u00ea pode acompanhar no meu post anterior aqui no site.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Storytelling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nRolou a apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o final do Conceito de Hero&#8217;s Journey, que consistia em uma apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de 10 minutos de algum filme de nossa escolha, analisando a Jornada do Her\u00f3i dentro do filme e criando um conceito de jogo para o mesmo. No meu caso eu escolhi o filme <em>O Fabuloso Destino de Am\u00e9lie Poulain<\/em> e consegui fazer uma apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o bem interessante, bonita e organizada. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Cinematics \/ Storyboarding<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nA apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o final do Conceito da Cinematic que cada um v\u00eam fazendo desde o come\u00e7o desse term. No meu caso a minha Cinematic foi baseada em uma id\u00e9ia para uma abertura do meu jogo de tabuleiro, caso um dia ele se tornasse um jogo digital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Programming 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nN\u00f3s tivemos dois \u00faltimos assignments. Um em que dever\u00edamos criar um Pet Sim Game em que o jogador deveria interagir com ele, podendo usar apenas duas a\u00e7\u00f5es por &#8220;dia&#8221; e revelando seus status sempre ao fim desse &#8220;dia&#8221;. E, finalmente, um projeto final em grupo em que dever\u00edamos fazer qualquer Text Based Game utilizando a linguagem de programa\u00e7\u00e3o C#.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Level Design Theory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nN\u00f3s criamos o Documento Detalhado de Level Design, baseando-se no level que estamos trabalhando desde o come\u00e7o desse term. Meu level eu decidi me focar em cima do jogo final que apresentei na mat\u00e9ria de Pr\u00e9-Produ\u00e7\u00e3o do curso. Eu criei um level e explorei toda parte da Documenta\u00e7\u00e3o de Level Design, com o player&#8217;s path, triggers, inimigos, Asset Summary, An\u00e1lise de Riscos Potenciais etc. Eu gostei muito de fazer esse documento. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Pre-Production Techniques<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nN\u00f3s tivemos a \u00faltima apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de um conceito de jogo que criamos em grupo. A apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o foi feita em powerpoint.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Visual Design Principles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\nN\u00f3s fizemos a anima\u00e7\u00e3o de uma Life Bar Din\u00e2mica para Games. E, por fim, a capa de algum jogo que escolh\u00eassemos, junto com um estudo visual de Mood Board, para ajudar na cria\u00e7\u00e3o final da capa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BOOOOM! E esse foi o final do Term 1. Lembrando que o grande projeto desse term foi o jogo de tabuleiro. Enquanto o grande projeto do Term 2 \u00e9 o Flash Game.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Term 02 &#8211; Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><\/strong>\n<em>&#8220;O segundo term se constr\u00f3i na funda\u00e7\u00e3o da teoria dos games e tamb\u00e9m introduz mec\u00e2nica de games dentro das ferramentas do designer. O term tamb\u00e9m se foca em ensinar o trabalho eficiente em equipe e especializa-se nas \u00e1reas de game design como level design, game arte, an\u00e1lise cr\u00edtica e codifica\u00e7\u00e3o em Flash. Mas para mim que adoro Level Design eu estou me focando bastante tamb\u00e9m nos assignments que envolvem a mat\u00e9ria e nos mapas que estamos criando atualmente na UDK.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para o Flash Game os times foram praticamente &#8220;rand\u00f4micos e sorteados&#8221;. Meu time \u00e9 composto por Ryan, Gustavo, Siddharth e eu. Nosso projeto se chama<em><strong> Jack<\/strong><\/em> e estamos como uma &#8220;parceria&#8221; com o projeto <em><strong>Compendium<\/strong><\/em> da VFS.\u00a0Compendium \u00e9 gerenciado pelo curso Entertainment Business Management da VFS. Compendium \u00e9 um grupo de trabalhos com colabora\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de setores da ind\u00fastria, pelos profissionais de entretenimento do futuro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mas detalhes sobre as mat\u00e9rias e os novos assignments em espec\u00edficos, eu estarei postando nos pr\u00f3ximos posts.
